StrongForce Implements Innovative Engineering Solutions at Bukit Chagar RTS Station
August, 2024
Johor Bahru, Malaysia – The Bukit Chagar Rapid Transit System (RTS) station, under construction in Johor Bahru, will be a key transit hub linking Malaysia and Singapore. As the Malaysian terminus of the RTS Link, the station will handle 60,000 peak-hour commuters once operational in Q4-2026. StrongForce is proud to contribute to this landmark project for MRT Corp with advanced engineering solutions.
Situated over five existing train lines, the station presents unique structural challenges. To address access restrictions, SF is implementing 18 permanent post-tensioned shell beam segments, serving as both formwork and a composite design solution. The beams, averaging 55 meters in length, ensure minimal rail disruption while maintaining safety.
SF is deploying the EOTA-certified Rudloff-StrongForce System to install 450 tons of 31-06 multistrand tendons. Each beam incorporates 12 tendons within 3.0m x 3.0m in-situ portal beams, stressed in three stages to enhance stability. These beams transfer loads from the station platforms, supporting four levels and a roof above the railway tracks.
By leveraging precision engineering and advanced construction methods, SF ensures the Bukit Chagar RTS station meets top durability and efficiency standards. This project underscores our expertise in infrastructure development and our commitment to enhancing Malaysia-Singapore connectivity.
