Afoul bridge to open Q1 2024 to ease traffic flow in Salalah region

September, 2023

In a significant stride towards enhancing infrastructure in the Salalah region of Oman and in collaboration with civil infrastructure contractor “AZ Engineers”, StrongForce has successfully completed post tension works on the Afoul Bridge.

Spanning 300-metres long, the bridge structure provides a single carriageway (two lanes) that forms part of the 1.3-kilometer rehabilitation and upgrade of the existing road network, facilitating a smoother flow of traffic in the region.

The Wadi Afoul experiences intense rainfall during the monsoon season, which often results in road closures and disruption of essential services to the western regions of the Dhofar Governorate. Once completed, the bridge will play a pivotal role in mitigating the impact of the monsoon and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for the residents and businesses in the area.

Using the Rudloff-StrongForce multistrand post tension system, StrongForce delivered 60 precast I-Girder beams that constitute the core structural elements of the bridge.

The Afoul Bridge project reflects StrongForce’s dedication to providing innovative, sustainable solutions for complex construction challenges. The company’s expertise in post-tensioning plays a key role in reinforcing the region’s infrastructure, improving transportation networks, and fostering economic growth.
